ATTENTION MARITIME EMPLOYERS
HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR MANAGEMENT INFORMATIONS SYSTEM REPORT?
As your District Drug and Alcohol Program Inspector this is a friendly reminder that it is that time of year when your businesses Management Information Systems (MIS) submitted. Each Maritime Commercial Fishing Employer is responsible to have this requirement completed by March 15th of this year.  MIS is the Data information used by Department of Transportation to analyze alcohol and drug testing statistics from the previous year January 2010-December 2010.
It has been my experience that some employers are unaware of this requirement and while audited they are found to be deficient in this area. The reasons vary why they are unaware of this requirement, however, it can cost an employer upward to a $7000.00, a fine that could be easily avoided.
If you are an employer and use the service of a consortium or third party administer I would highly recommend that you contact their office for clarification on who is responsible for submission of the MIS.
If you are an employer that manage all the paper work for your chemical testing program now you know as well of your responsibility
