The Fifth Coast Guard District launched the Outreach Innnovation Center initiative on the web in September 2009. Since then they have shipped over 250 orders to safety stakeholders and have rapidly become the largest designer and producer of maritime safety related displays, and unique promotional items within the Coast Guard.

Outreach Center MissionThe Fifth Coast Guard District Outreach Innovation Center objective is to raise awareness for the importance of maritime safety programs. Working in partnership with stakeholders in the waterways activity spectrum they are committed to delivering professional, high quality displays, exhibits and promotional accessories that increase visibility in a wide range of public venues. Including elementary school safety fairs, boater education classes, vessel safety check stations, boat shows, conferences, seminars, television spots, national safe boating week activities and many other safety related opportunities with our boating safety partners.

The U.S. Govenment Printing Office has been an vital partner in the Outreach Centers success. Their Creative Services studio in Washington, D.C. has designed a wide range of high profile graphics that get noticed. Below, Casey Radican of the U.S. GPO and Sammy the Sea Otter join forces at a recent GPO open house. Sammy the Sea Otter, the boating safety mascot was designed by GPO graphic artist Nick Crawford.
