>The Director of Commercial Regulations & Standards (CG-52) recently published the Spring 2010 issue of the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Engineering Newsletter. This newsletter provides vital information regarding current projects in CG-52 and at the Marine Safety Center, glimpses into the Marine Safety Engineering field, and highlights of the Marine Safety Program, including recent graduates of the Advanced Education program.

The Spring 2010 issue contains articles on: engineering “Green” into commercial shipping; maritime casualty investigation and the Coast Guard’s Salvage Engineering Response Team; post-graduate students’ feasability study on the CG’s 200-ft Heartland Waterway Vessel; putting the “M” in the Coast Guard Academy; and an interview with MSC alumni, LCDR Jason Tama.
