>Commandant Wants Flexibility as a Way of Life for Coast Guard

>New London, CT – During a recent speech to the Coast Guard Academy Corps of Cadets, Adm. Allen said he has tried to make the Coast Guard into a flexible organization that adapts to its environment.

Allen also reiterated the meaning of the Coast Guard’s core values of honor, respect and devotion to duty. Specifically, he said:

Honor is the “compact you make with yourself on how you lead your life,”
Respect is the “compact you make with those around you,” and
Devotion to duty is the “compact you make with the country when you put on your uniform.”
