>Recreational Boating Safety – Where Does the Money Go?

>Today, the Coast Guard issued a federal notice providing an accounting of recreational boating safety (RBS) projects, programs, and activities funded during fiscal year 2009 under provisions of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century.

Almost $800,000 was spent providing marketing, media, public information, and program strategy support to the nation-wide RBS effort. On a regional level, the Fifth District has been very active in promoting RBS and providing a wide range of maritime safety program outreach banner displays and exhibits via the district’s Outreach Fullfillment Product Center (OPFC) to Coast Guard units, Coast Guard Auxililiary flotillas, U.S. Power Squadrons, Boating Law Administrators, etc.
