>Arguments Today before 4th Circuit on Sparrows Point LNG Project

>According to LNGLawBlog.com and the Baltimore Sun, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit will hear oral arguments today regarding Sparrows Point LNG’s Petition for Review of the Maryland Department of the Environment’s (MDOE) denial of a water quality certification for the LNG proposal in Baltimore, MD. The MDOE denied the certification because Sparrows Point LNG did not provide an adequate plan for disposing of the spoils from dredging in Baltimore Harbor.

On January 15, 2009, after receiving input from the Coast Guard as a cooperating agency, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commision (FERC) approved Sparrows Point LNG’s request for authorization to site, construct and operate the proposed facility provided that conditions listed in FERC’s authorization order were satisfied.
