Sail Philadelphia 2018

Weeks of planning and preparation come to fruition as members of Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay prepared for the arrival of this year’s tall ships. Cannons boomed and spectators cheered as tall ships from around the globe danced on the water for their annual parade of sail up the Delaware River. Sector active duty, reserve and auxiliary members took to the water to enforce a safety zone as the tall ships transited the river and moored up at Penn’s landing. The safety zone was enforced in order to ensure the safety of the maritime public and tall ships. Here’s what it looked like from the viewpoint of a Coast Guardsman on a small boat.
