Coast Guard members from Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., participated in an event for our veterans in Sea Isle City, N.J., this past weekend. Tri-For-our-Veterans IV Triathlon, in memory of Matt McCulley, is a fundraiser for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and the Sea Isle City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1963 for their efforts to repair the veterans’ memorial fountain and garden.

Nine Coast Guard members participated in a quarter-mile swim, over an eight mile bike ride and more than a three mile run to complete the event. The participants were Lt. Paul LaRoche, Petty Officer 3rd Class Homer Haro, Lt. Cmdr. Steve McCullough, Lt. Hayes Davis, Lt. j.g. Michael Gereau, Lt. John Sgarlata, Lt. Charles Clark, Chief Petty Officer James Portock and Lt. Neal Corbin.

“My motivation for participating in the event was to support our veterans,” said Chief Petty Officer James Portock. “It was a lot of fun and was great to see the participation of so many for the benefit of our veterans who have come back from war.”
